Michael Andrew Joseph Dalkas, 53, of Belchertown, Massachusetts passed away on February 8, 2025.

Mike was born October 8, 1971 in Holyoke, Massachusetts to Carol Cote and Ernest Dalkas, and grew up in Easthampton, MA with friends and family in an area they forever refer to as “the neighborhood”. He remained a lifelong resident of Western Mass.

Mike married the love of his life Michelle Marie Blais on September 11, 1999 in a beautiful ceremony at Storrowton Tavern in West Springfield, MA, and settled in Belchertown. Mike was a Class A CDL driver, working for most of his career at Yankee Candle, and most recently for J.B. Hunt until his retirement.

“Uncle Mikey” as he was affectionately known to his nieces and nephews, has held many interests over the years including mountain biking, hunting, golf, cross-country skiing, and most recently to more artisan endeavors including home brewing and coffee roasting.

Anybody who knew Mike has only the kindest words to say about him. From casual acquaintances to his closest family, all knew him as a quiet, solid man with a golden heart. He was soft-spoken and unassuming, but never without a personal opinion and a smile. Mike was a dependable man that would go out of his way to help anyone in need. He was industrious and energetic, particularly with home projects on his “honey-do” lists, and would take on projects such as stone patios, walkways, koi pond, landscaping, room finishing and more. He was a consummate DIY’er who was quick to learn and apply his skills for many personal projects.

Family will forever cherish those sunrise talks on the dock at Lake George, discussing the latest home improvement project at holiday gatherings and trying to emulate his golf swing (we could never beat him). He was always the first to say he wanted to go for soft ice cream, and we were always glad he did!!

Mike leaves behind his wife of 25 years Michelle Dalkas (Blais), his mother Carol Cote of Holyoke, father Ernie Dalkas, stepmother Ellen Beals of Amherst, sisters Shannen Cote of Holyoke, and Lacey Dalkas of Amherst, brothers Jeff Dalkas of Hubbardston, and Jared Dalkas of Amherst, as well as nieces Reagan and Emelia, and nephews Ethan, Grayson, Leon, Elliott, Maddox and Ryland.

An intimate service for family and friends will be determined at a later date.

Memorial donations in Mike’s memory may be directed to Shriners Hospitals for Children at www.lovetotherescue.org
