Mary Lou McCulloch, beloved wife of David McCulloch, stepmom, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at Cooley Dickinson Hospital on April 8, 2023, with family by her side. Born August 18, 1959, in Malden MA, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Barbara (Geary) Horgan of Everett, MA. Mary graduated from Pope John Catholic High School in 1977. After High School she attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. During college she decided to take a break and moved to California. In 1982 she returned to UMass to finish her degree. While attending UMass she worked at UMass Transit as a bus driver. During this time, she met her husband, David McCulloch. After Mary graduated from UMass she was hired by UMass and held several different positions over the years. Mary retired from UMass in 2020. Mary was a kind, intelligent, and generous woman. Even though she chose not to have children of her own she was a good stepmom to Peg and Sharon. Mary enjoyed competing in dog agility shows, she competed for many years with her dogs Kisser, Bugsy, Rocky, Molly, Pistol Pete, Jessie James and Brando.
Mary loved her dogs, and they were the children she never had. She enjoyed walking with the dogs at the DAR, and on the beach at the ocean. Mary loved reading, shopping, camping, and spending time with her family and friends. Mary leaves behind her husband of 35 years David McCulloch, Stepdaughters Peg Zager and husband Tony of Gill, Sharon Taylor of Hatfield. Four grandchildren Darren Taylor of Hatfield, Rylie Zager and her soon to be husband Daniel Revis of Guilford, VT, Anthony Zager Jr. of Gill, and Britney Zager of Gill. Mary was the devoted sister of Thomas Horgan and his wife Janice of North Carolina, John Horgan and his wife Winnie of
Milton, Michael Horgan of Maryland, and the late Barbara Horgan, Sister- in-law of Ann McCulloch of Williamsburg. Cherished Aunt of Thomas Horgan Jr. Amy Henriquez, Christine Horgan, Amanda Horgan, Michael Horgan Jr, Rebecca Hillenbrand and husband Rick, and Eric McCulloch. The great Aunt of Jonathan, Kiran, Amelia, Liam, Sage, James, Cesar, and Xavier. Services will be private. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a service in scheduled.
